College of San Mateo Wedding - Sarah +Yale
I would always suggest my brides to hire a wedding planner to take some pressure off themselves. If they are planning their own wedding, I would still suggest hiring a day of coordinator to make sure everyone is following the timeline, also for the vendors to have a 'point-person' to go to when there are questions during the wedding day.
When Sarah told me she was planning her own wedding and there will be no day of coordinator, I have to admit I was worried that we might be running behind schedule, not able to find family members who are supposed to be in the pictures etc. but that is not the case. Sarah was the boss on her wedding day! She got all the groomsmen and bridesmaids working on the schedule, the cake was delivered and decorated just before the cocktail hour, reception tables were set up while she and Yale were doing first look and family formals. I had to give her credit for being so organized! She even DIY her own bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquet, all the groomsmen's boutonnieres, seating chart and so much more! Note: Future brides, do not attempt to plan or DIY or coordinate your own wedding unless you are properly trained! haha
Both of the ceremony and reception were at the College of San Mateo. It is a beautiful campus with unique architectures and lots of greeneries. I love that we had access to the other floors so during the ceremony my second shooter David was able to go up there to get a wide shot of the ceremony. We had the opportunity to walk out during sunset for more portraits, the color of the sky was absolutely stunning and so romantic! To make the night even better, just right after we are packed up and about to goodbye, we saw blood moon! We had to pull Sarah and Yale out in the cold and do a night shoot because it just looked So cool! The photo turned out amazing and I'm so glad the bride and groom were up to do fun shots like this during their wedding day.
